Thursday 16th March - walk *** Hemley circuit - mainly cloudy and mild.
There was probably enough wind for a foil today but with a dodgy knee and
no winter wetsuit I decided to give it a miss, poor tide to for my winter
venue, still a little early in the year for me to venture out on the sea. I
did my exercises again then with some glimpses of sunshine I packed lunch
and we drove over to Hemley Church for lunch, more yummy homemade soup, and
we still have enough for another day. We were expecting it to be muddy and
it certainly was which made the walk slow progress with me with a dodgy leg
and Mag with her arm in a sling, she discovered yesterday she had broken
both the bones in her wrist and is nervous of slipping over, its also still
pretty painful, fingers crossed it calms down soon! It was lovely and quiet
as we set off down to the River Deben, past the two lovely horses with long
shaggy coats as the path becomes very muddy but we are treated to a large
flock of noisy curlews heading inland to a farmers field in search of
dinner, probably 40/50 of them! We walk out to the edge of the river with
the tide very low, it looks it little sad with no boats moored and only one
out sailing! We slowly continue to Kirton Creek passing a tree with some
Long Tailed Tits but very few other birds on the mud? We take the inland
route back but again no birds and just a few trees in bloom. Then it was a
8 mile drive home, spotting a deer in the road, stopping off at Lidl before
a cuppa and cake:)
